Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Georgia maintains the Referral Guide for Abuse Treatment Services, a listing of mental health providers throughout the state of Georgia with specialized skills in treating children and adults impacted by abuse. Also, the Referral Guide includes referrals to treatment providers who work with victims of sexual abuse and those at risk to sexually abuse. The Referral Guide is listed on the PCA Georgia website, which receives more than 2,000 hits per month.

Professionals interested in listing their professional practice in the Referral Guide can call 404-870-6572 or e-mail referralguide@pcageorgia.org.

Referrals from the Referral Guide for Abuse Treatment Services are given to PCA Georgia Helpline callers. Approximately 30% of the calls to the Helpline are requests for referrals for treatment assessments, private therapy, community counseling and/or support groups. Our Helpline receives an average of 350 calls per month. Each caller requesting resource referrals is given several provider names listed in the Referral Guide.

Mental health professionals listed in the Referral Guide go through a review process by our Standard Review Committee to assure that they meet specific requirements including:

  • current licensure and liability insurance;
  • letters of reference, and
  • current continuing educational hours.

To ensure the integrity of the referral guide, each professional affiliate is required to renew their listing every two years.
