Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Georgia promotes the following behaviors between adults and children:

  • Adults who support healthy relationships with children:
    • Respect child's personal "space"
    • Answer questions about sexual behaviors in age-appropriate language
    • Redirect inappropriate behavior without shaming the individual
    • Listen and respond when a child is uncomfortable with affection
    • Respect household rules and restrictions about behaviors between children and between adults and children
  • Unacceptable adult behaviors with children include:
    • Using inappropriate language and topics around children 
    • Having secretive relationships with children
    • Spending so much time with a child that they isolate the child from others
    • Not respecting a child's privacy
    • Not respecting the household rules of others
    • Performing behaviors that make others uncomfortable
